Get Your Free Review Copy of the DRAGON FRIEND Audiobook While Supplies Last!

Get Your Free Review Copy of the DRAGON FRIEND Audiobook While Supplies Last!

Calling all US and UK AUDIOBOOK enthusiasts! I just discovered I still have a limited number of FREE promo codes for my DRAGON FRIEND audiobook available for download in the US and UK.

Direct Message me/email me if you're interested (or know someone who'd be interested) in listening to a fun, dragon-heavy, Arthurian fantasy adventure narrated by the immensely talented Bobby Gaglini.
I'll take it from there and send the promo code and necessary download and review links (while my current supply of free promo codes lasts). Make sure you specify whether you live in the US or the UK.

The basic idea is that you get a free Dragon Friend audiobook to enjoy "in exchange for an honest review" on Amazon and Audible. The reviews can be brief and should honestly reflect how you feel about this audiobook. You can also post the same review on both platforms.

In the interest of full transparency, Amazon/Audible wants reviewers to put a phrase similar to "I received a free review copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review." in your review.

As most of you know, reviews really, really, really help, so I'd be really, really, really grateful for your support. Thanks!

FANTASY BOOK REVIEW: Heroes of Perpetua by Brian Clopper

Three misfit middle-schoolers travel to the mystical world of Perpetua to do battle with the evil Baron Orb and his vicious army of shadow creatures.  If Lou, Nelson, and Hugo are able to defeat the fiend, Perpetua will return to its natural state--a land of beauty, free-roaming fully magical creatures, and enchantment. If they fail, well, let's not think about that right now.

Author Clopper's writing style is light and fun, and he succeeds in crafting an awesome adventure that puts his characters in genuine peril. I'm hoping there will be a sequel (or two) as I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with these heroes!

DRAGONFRIEND: The Audiobook

If you enjoy a good fantasy read, chances are you'll enjoy a good fantasy listen, too.

Allow me to suggest Dragonfriend: Leonard the Great, Book One, read by gifted narrator Bobby Gaglini, is an excellent listen.

Now available as an audiobook on Amazon, Audible, and iTunes, Dragonfriend tells the action-packed story of a boy and his man-eating dragon.

A brief description...

If you think it's all good deeds and stuffy politeness over at Camelot, you're wrong! Most people don't know this, but things are pretty bad right now. King Arthur's in jail, Merlin's gone missing, and there's a cruel demon in charge. Seriously! Now it's up to young Leonard, a page to a poor but kind knight, to set things right - even if that means going on a dangerous quest, outsmarting hungry monsters, or risking his life to make friends with a bunch of grumpy dragons. Filled with magic, dragons, and irreverent humor, Dragonfriend is an epic YA Arthurian fantasy novel in the spirit of The Princess Bride, The Sword in the Stone, and Excalibur.

Praise for Dragonfriend: Leonard the Great, Book One (Kindle Edition):

"A wonderfully written side story to the Arthurian legend with never-considered twists, fun details and tremendous heart. Leonard is a marvelous hero-in-the-making and Mantooth is the first dragon in along time who really deserves a hug." -- Carolyn Hennesy, Author of the Pandora series

"Dragonfriend starts with a chuckle then quickly develops into a brave quest, climaxing in a truly epic battle between knights, dragons and fiends from Hell. Honestly, what more could you want?" -- Keith Robinson, Author of the Island of Fog Series

"DRAGONFRIEND is a feisty, fresh take on turning a lowly page into a full-blown hero." -- Brian Clopper, Author, The Powers That Flee and Ghost Coast

DRAGONFRIEND Cover Reboot!

Check out the new cover for Dragonfriend: Leonard the Great, Book One

Is it awesome? Yes, it is!

I thought my old cover was awesome, too, but felt it was time to freshen things up a bit. For me, this meant not only changing the look, but commissioning a new cover that looked like it belonged in the Arthurian fantasy category. A quick search on Amazon will show you what I'm talking about. The new cover fits in nicely with similar titles and is more in line with reader expectations for the sub-genre.

Thanks to cover designer Keith Robinson for doing such a great job!

Here's the description, btw:

"If you think it's all good deeds and stuffy politeness over at Camelot, you're wrong! Most people don't know this, but things are pretty bad right now. King Arthur's in jail, Merlin's gone missing, and there's a cruel demon in charge. Seriously!

Now it's up to young Leonard, a page to a poor but kind knight, to set things right—even if that means going on a dangerous quest, outsmarting hungry monsters, or risking his life to make friends with a bunch of grumpy dragons."

COMING VERY SOON: A cover redesign for Giantkiller: Leonard the Great, Book Two and the long delayed publication of Elvenking, the third book in the Leonard the Great series!

I love my new cover! What do you think?

Mini Review: "Pandora Gets Vain" by Carolyn Hennesy

The second book in a wonderful series, "Pandora Gets Vain" delivers humor, heart, and action by the opened boxful. All of the characters, including Pandy herself, are loads of fun as they jump to Egypt in search of Vanity, one of the seven evils.

Author Hennesy keeps the story moving at a brisk pace and her fascinating circus sequence is especially enjoyable.

Highly Recommended!

Mini Review: Castle of Spells (Island of Fog Book 9)

The conclusion of a two-part story begun in Prison of Despair (Island of Fog Book 8), Castle of Spells is a fun read featuring Hal and his shapeshifter pals and the notorious Queen Bee and her scrag followers (aka The Swarm). The twist this round is that the scrags have "acquired" the ability to make their own shapeshifters. An exciting climactic battle on the beach between Hal and friends and the newly minted scrag monsters (some cool new species have been added) determines once and for all who wins the power struggle between the two opposing forces. As always, author Robinson's storytelling is taut and entertaining. Recommended.

Mini Review: BRING ON THE MAGIC by Brian Clopper

A young wizard, Randall Flood, and a talking spell book, Chuck, team up to protect the mythical creatures and raw magic that have begun to seep back into our modern world. All seems to be going well until Randall develops a nagging suspicion that his noble mission may not be all that noble.  With its sharp writing, light-hearted humor, exciting action, and impressive world-building, "Bring On the Magic" has quickly become my favorite Brian Clopper book. Recommended.

PUBLICATION DAY! Undrastormur, Part 2: The Great Tree

The big day has arrived for the second part in my YA Viking fantasy series, Undrastormur, Part 2: The Great Tree!

Here's the description: "When the roots of the Great Tree are attacked by a plague of monster slugs, Eirik and his companions must destroy the ravenous creatures before they release the Nidhoggr, a mountain-sized dragon bent on bringing death and destruction to all of the nine worlds."

Sound exciting? I think so and hope you'll agree.

This novella-length fantasy adventure is now available as a Kindle title on Amazon.

You can check it out HERE.

Thanks!

Update: The Great Tree: Undrastormur, Part 2

Just a quick update... The early beta reader notes are starting to come in. I got one yesterday from Eirikur, my pal from Iceland. He works for the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture and keeps me honest on Norse terms (names, etc.). For example, he told me that "the 'Einherjar' are a select group and their name should be capitalized instead of lower case." and that "The correct name of Thor's second goat is "Tanngnjóstur" which would sound like "Tanngnjost" in English." Mythology geek that I am, I love this kind of stuff. It means a lot to me to be as "authentic" and true to the era as possible. Thanks, Eirikur!

This Time I Am the One Being Interviewed

Author Scott Bury interviews me and fellow iAi member Gary Henry about our writing styles. I call mine "cinematic" while Gary describes his thusly:

"I like to think of my writing style as “snappy” — using active voice and vivid verbs to the best of my ability. I try to vary sentence length and incorporate colorful description."

Wait a minute. I like "snappy," too. Head on over to the Guild of Dreams and check out the full post (and insert "snappy" everywhere I use "cinematic").
